Brunch staples

Brunch is always trending in DC and U Street is no exception. From small plates that push the boundaries of traditional breakfast, to the American staple; bacon and eggs- we rounded up our favorite neighborhood bites for any weekend morning/afternoon. (Note: this list is updated frequently).

Ulah Bistro

Ulah Bistro serves up traditional brunch icons including delectable french toast, solid home fries, and of course the star of any weekend morning: The Mimosa and Bloody Mary. A great go-to for a no frills, relaxing meal. 1214 U St NW ulahbistro.com

Busboys and Poets

U Street is just as well known for this bookstore and restaurant  as it is for Ben’s Chili Bowl. It was an all too obvious choice for U&ME, but we couldn’t leave out this DC favorite. Busboys not only serves up great food, but they cater to all appetites and diets ( tons of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free entrees). Although the weekend rush can make waiting for a table feel like forever, browsing the bookstore is a great way pass the time. For the night owls they are open until midnight on weekdays and recently extended their Friday and Saturday hours to 4am. Must try U&Me favorite: The Oaxaca Omelette with home fries.
